Dear Listener

Here are 11 survivors from a 4 month recording session
That took place in my flat during the late winter of 2010

Songs born in moments of serenity
Within moments of chaos
The moment of pencil and empty page
And grown up slow on the dusty stage

So here they are for the first time in a silver disc
I’m excited.
It’s been like blowing up a giant balloon
But now it’s full and even the end’s been tied
And all that’s left is for you to listen

On a bench in a village green a girl pretending to be a queen,
Took of her crown and threw it in the lake.
Sitting next to a man, serene, and holding onto a tambourine.
Singing about a choice he had to make.
She was a poet’s daughter, looking at the crystal water.
Emerald eyes and chocolate skin.
He was a wild looking man. He somehow blended with the land.

Holding onto the tree as I move the sun and the sky, got it all to lose.
I take one final touch of the ground. The wind’s blowing through my hair.
It’s carrying me up there. As my dreams sink with my crown.
I’m gonna be reborn, as I’m torn, from this world.
Hold me hand, let me cry. And let us never say goodbye.
Track Name: Squash face
I saw you but I didn’t want to know your name,
When you came over and asked to join our game of cards.
You came and sat down next to me, with a strange smile,
And nose running constantly, which you wiped on your sleeve.
And I asked if you were from the other side of town, where the sun goes down.
But you said, “no. I’m from where the sun goes up, on the other side of town.”

So who’s this strange girl sitting next to me.
Saying strange things but acting kind of free. Is she free.
All night long you kept saying funny things. ‘Till from your stories,
I noticed you had wings, which you used, when you flew away.
Someone’s crying on the other side of town, where the sun goes down,
While we are, where the sun goes up, on the other side of town.

“Where are you? Now I want to know your name”
“Where are you? I want to play with you again”

Then there you were in the corner of the room.
I came to you like a child to a balloon.
But you got up and left me staring at the wall, your glass of wine,
Looked like it was about to fall but it was me, that was about to fall.
Now I’m waiting on the other side of town, where the sun goes down
While you are, where the sun goes up, on the other side of town.

Put me back on the land, put me back on my feet.
I wanna know where I stand, wanna know what I eat.
The sun is on the horizon, there’s a chill in the air.
It’s time to go home and everyone’ll be there.
I feel I’m living in a superficial world & all I’m giving feels like nothing at all.

The sun is on the horizon and works begins.
I feel the life around me and I breathe it in.

Who’s your favourite corporation? Mine is PG Tips.
It’s better to buy tea in a fair trade way,
but if I had to pick just one corporation to stay, it would be, PG.
I got banned from Tesco’s the other day.
I was trying to take a photograph for an exhibition at the Vaults cafe.
When the bouncer threw me out all aggressive and crazy,
I haven’t been back in 9 months since then, see,
I’ve found shopping so much better on the Cowley road without those fuckers.
Now I don’t have to wait. And I don’t have to queue.
And I get a friendly face when I but my food and it’s cheaper,
You don’t belive me but it’s true it’s cheaper,
They fooled you, well they fooled me too.
So who’s your favourite corporation? Please don’t say Tesco’s
‘Cause I hate those fuckers with all of my heart and I hope that they die
And I hope that they rot. I hate Tesco’s.

Sat down by the side of the river waiting for the sunshine to deliver some words
I wanna sing a song about the corporation, how the power of the people can stop this irritation. If they don’t itch it it will go away. ‘Cause you don’t have to buy every thing that you’re sold. Don’t have to believe all the shit that you’re told.
So who’s your favourite corporation? Well they could all just die.
Lets bury them alive let the little ones/shops survive, human spirit be revived.
It’s always the big fish, eat all the small fish. I can see how it works in the sea
But between you and me. Have a billion years of evoution not moved
consciousness along just a little bit. We’re still living in the rules of the ocean.

It wasn’t their land, but they held the keys.
It’s not your land so give back the keys, or take away the doors.
They put doors on the shores of a foreign land,
took gold from the soul of a foreign land and look how tall and proud they stand.

Where people were bought, people were sold.
People were taught, people were told, to respect the new leaders of the world.
“Respect the new and forget about the old.”
They put doors on the shores of a foreign land,

Do you notice anything around you that is wrong.

People starving, daily striving, struggling to survive, people smiling,

Happiness is so much easier to find,
Than the rich make out as they’re leaving you behind.
Giving is getting, remember that when you letting selfish needs take over
Everything you do.

Are you looking for some evil man to blame.
Does the thought of standing up when you are so weighed down by fear,
In a world of lies seem like the wrong idea.
Understanding’s so much easier to achieve
With an open mind and a heart that wants to believe.
We’re all together on this world that is our home,

Is it fair that those with everything get more.

Freedom lies in everybody’s heart, It’s just a case of letting it become a part of

I invited her to a barbecue. I barbecued my heart for her.
But she ran a mile. Guess she couldn’t stand the smell, of my heart on fire.
She gave me many dreams to dream. A hundred dreams I had in a day.
The two of us alone on the moon. I sang her songs she danced the night away.
Then we took off, flying through space, i looked in her eyes.

Well now I’m on the ground again. The full balloon still hangs in the sky.
If I could do it all again. I’d do it all again.

He felt he was to blame ‘cause his parents were ashamed that
